Clinical Practice

I am three weeks into my clinical placement with one week to go.  I am loving orthopaedics and am hoping to get to theatre this coming week.  The travelling each way is very tiring so I really hope that I can manage to get a community job in this area.  I have applied for one and the closing date for that is this coming Monday, although given that I won't be back on the register until December, I may not be in with a running.
Everyone else is coping with my absence really well and I am so proud of them all.
Running wise, I haven't been doing much.  I have had to put it on hold for a few weeks but have a plan coming up.  I will run 4 times a week when I have finished this placement and my running friend and I are going to aim for a half marathon next year.  That will be tough and the weight will have to start coming off again but I am determined to do it.  We will sit down and plan our programme the week after my clinical placement is over and I only have my academic work to finish.  My aim is to
run 3 miles on Sunday morning
run 2/3 miles on Tuesday evening
run an increasing number of miles with Marie - perhaps on Thursday
run 3 miles on Friday
run on Saturday either on my own or with the club.
Fitting that round everything else will be interesting but it has got to be done!!

Too long since last posting but so much accomplished.  The home education conference at Cefn Lea in Mid Wales has come and gone - very successfully despite my laptop collapsing and dying on the way down.  Thankfully I had everything printed off which we needed.  There was drama during the week when we had to call an ambulance and a young girl ended up being airlifted out and we were challenged that our faith was small - however, the Lord, my Rock, held firm and all was well.
Today I started my clinical placement on orthopaedics - brilliant day, although loads to take in.  It felt really good to be back in uniform again and the only negative was the 1 hour drive there and back.  I have two days off now and then am in again on Thursday on a late.  Will apply for a bank job there tomorrow but would prefer to have the community palliative care job.
