fires and candles

I love the time of year when winter is on it's way and we light the wood burner, and have candles at our evening meal.  In fact I love every season of the year.  This year, after a really harsh winter and wild spring we had a scorcher of a summer.  So we can't complain.  This morning when I got up for work it felt like a gale outside with high winds and pouring rain and I wish I had taken my gloves with me as my hands were really cold.  I feel sorry for my patients and I keep apologizing about my cold hands.
I have put on some of the weight I took off over last winter, mainly I think because I haven't been running as much but also because I haven't been careful enough about what I eat.  So back to the drawing board, especially with the exercise.
I never want my running to take over other priorities, mainly my wonderful job of being a mother, but also I have to realise how important exercise is to my health.  I had a good couple of games of badminton on Friday evening so that was good.  My running partner and I are hoping to commit to running again more over the winter - we had a great season last winter resulting in some big improvements so looking for the same this year.
Work has been busy although I still love my job very much.  Driving in the high winds and rain yesterday was interesting but at least our vehicle is high and doesn't have much problem when the road is flooded.  I sure cover a lot of miles and country lanes in my working day.
We are a very blessed family.  I have wonderful children and a great husband.  I love chatting to my absent children on Facebook or skype or by message and I hope I always have a good relationship with them, even as that relationship changes.
